Day 2 - Don't Look Down

Today was definitely a much nicer day as far as weather goes. It wasn't too hot, there was a nice breeze, and it only rained in the morning! We started the morning by making the climb up to Arthur's Seat, which was quite a challenge, but the view was absolutely worth it.

What a view indeed!
Overlooking Edinburgh.

The start of the trail; there is a loch (Danspie Loch) down there, filled with swans.
Did you know that Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano?!
The hill rises above the city of Edinburgh to a height of  822ft (250.5m).

After that, we headed out to Tantallon Castle, which was fantastic. We got to climb up some sketchy stone spiral staircases to the very tops of the walls of the castle, and I've got to say, looking down was a mistake. I didn't realize exactly how high up we were until I did so, and boy was I glad to reach the bottom of those stairs again!

Yes, that entire rock is covered in gannets (seagull like birds).

I looked down.....

We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling in North Berwick, where we had some quality fish n chips (well, I had a steak pie and chips, which was just as nice). We then had some ice cream down on the beach and took the scenic route back to Edinburgh along the shoreline. All in all, a very eventful day indeed!

See you tomorrow!

  1. Looks like you had a brilliant day! I'm envious...especially at the fish 'n' chips which I could murder right now! Hope the ol' fella is lasting the pace! Your local mobility shop may hire wheelchairs for him if needed..but he may struggle with the steps ;-)
